Oh no, I've seen it that color before, especially in silty areas. I just don't like the combination of that water color the white and then the blue for some reason. Just personal preference :) May sound wierd but I think I almost prefer a darker, almost black color for the water.
Never done IR myself either, am going to experiment with it at some point though because I think the shots are beautiful. The only thing I can think of is that I really don't like the color of the water. Everything from the shoreline up is just perfect. The composition gives a wonderful feeling of both depth and exansiveness.
Thusie, the IR filter on the Sony 828 can be used with long exposures (with strong magenta cast) or in nightshot handheld (with green cast). Today, I took some both ways, but the shorter exposures had a lot of distracting choppiness in the water. So, in post with IR, I desaturate the image to remove the cast and add color (sometimes) as desired.
